West Colfax Says Farewell to Local Legend: Dino's Italian Restaurant
On Friday, September 27th, Mayor Adam Paul and a group of West Colfax community members, including Kathi Hasfjord, Maddie Nichols, Chicago Style’s Joe & Luanne Margotte, and 240 Union Restaurant owner Michael Coughlin, met at Dino’s Italian Restaurant to say good-bye to a West Colfax legend. All were present to enjoy a family Italian meal and witness the presentation of a Proclamation by the Mayor declaring September 30th, 2019 “Dino’s Italian Food Day In Lakewood”.
Mayor Adam Paul presented owner Judy Duren (Dino's daughter) with the Proclamation, thanking Dino’s for their decades of service to the community and great Italian cuisine. Dino's is closing not because of any problem with generating business but because the owners wish to retire. The restaurant and property will be offered for sale.
Dino’s was founded in 1961 by Dino and Jeannene DiPaolo where it first hosted just just four families for dinner. Before closing its doors on September 30th, the restaurant had become home to many and able to seat well over 200 people. In its time Dino’s became known as the place many created memories of birthday parties year over year, first dates, family dinners, and a local hangouts for teens and teens at heart.
Everyone at the West Colfax Community Association is grateful to Dino’s for all they have done for this historic corridor.
