West Colfax Business & Civic Roundtable

Local Insights  |  Focused Voices  |  Corridor-wide Impact

You’re invited to a small, focused working group shaping the future of West Colfax.

Out of more than 800 businesses and organizations along the corridor, we have identified a short list of leaders whose experience, judgment, and willingness to show up make a real difference. You are one of them.

The West Colfax Community Association and Lakewood–West Colfax Business Improvement District are partnering to convene a two-part, in-person roundtable to better understand what businesses along West Colfax actually need to operate, grow, and stay, and how existing business and civic support can be better aligned to meet those needs.

What This Is and Why It Matters

This is an intentionally small, facilitated process focused on honest conversation and actionable priorities. It is designed to respect participants’ time and move beyond general feedback toward clear direction that can realistically be acted on.

The West Colfax Business & Civic Roundtable brings together a limited group of engaged business and civic leaders for focused discussion on two interlinked questions:

  1. What business support would make the biggest difference for operating along West Colfax?

  2. What civic or volunteer support could meaningfully strengthen the corridor and complement City services?

The purpose of this process is to help WCCA, LWCBID, and the City of Lakewood better align existing programs with real, on-the-ground needs. Rather than relying on assumptions, we are asking those closest to the work to help clarify priorities and inform where focus will have the greatest impact.

Convening Partners:

  • Lakewood–West Colfax Business Improvement District & West Colfax Community Association (primary hosts)

  • City of Lakewood Community & Sustainability, (Partners in Community Service)

  • City of Lakewood Economic Development

How the Process Works

This engagement is structured as two in-person working lunches. Both sessions are essential.

Session 1: Listening

Session 1 is focused on listening. Participants will share candid input on business support and civic or volunteer needs, grounded in lived experience.

Review & Synthesis

Between sessions, LWCBID staff will synthesize what was heard and identify themes, priorities, and areas of alignment.

Session 2: Confirmation

Session 2 is focused on direction setting. Participants will review the findings from Session 1, refine priorities, and help confirm what is actionable within existing scope and resources.

Schedule at a Glance

Session 2: Confirmation

  • Mid-late March, TBD by participants in Session 1

  • 75 min. working lunch

  • Lakewood Country Club

Session 1: Listening

  • Thursday, February 26 @ 12pm

  • 75 min. working lunch

  • Lakewood Country Club

What We Will Do With What We Hear

Input from this roundtable will directly inform:

  • How LWCBID and WCCA deploy existing business support resources

  • How civic and volunteer efforts (especially through PICS) are focused along the corridor

  • How City partners understand corridor-scale needs tied to long-term business success

The outcome of this process will be a practical implementation roadmap grounded in participant input, existing programs, and real-world constraints.

Commitment and Participation

Participants are asked to commit to both sessions, as the second meeting builds directly on the first. The goal is a small group that can engage deeply, prioritize thoughtfully, and help confirm direction rather than generate broad wish lists.

Lunch will be provided at both sessions. Participants will also be publicly acknowledged following the conclusion of the process during a broader West Colfax community presentation.

If you are willing to participate, please confirm your interest using the RSVP link above. LWCBID staff will follow up to confirm participation prior to the first session.
